Accessibility Statement
What we are doing to make this store usable by everyone, what is in place today, what we know still gets in the way, how to tell us about a barrier, and how to buy from us another way if the site defeats you.

1What we are working toward
We want every part of this store to be usable by anyone who wants to buy from us. That includes people who use a screen reader, a keyboard on its own, speech input, a switch device, or magnification, and people who change color, contrast, motion or text size in their browser or operating system.
We are working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, at Level AA. That is the target we hold ourselves to.
We have not had an independent audit, so we are not claiming we have met it everywhere on this site. Where the newer version 2.2 adds something we can build to, we build to it.
2What is in place today
These are things that are built and working now, not things we intend to do.
- Keyboard operation. You can move through the site, open the menu, use the shop filters, add something to your bag and complete checkout using the keyboard alone. Nothing you need is reachable only by pointing at it.
- Skip to content. Every page begins with a link that jumps you past the header straight to the main content, so you are not walked through the navigation on every page.
- Visible focus. Whatever you are focused on is visibly outlined as you move. We do not remove that outline to make a page look tidier.
- Reduced motion. If your device or your browser is set to reduce motion, the site follows that setting. Movement is reduced or removed rather than played at you anyway.
- Structure and labels. Pages are built from real headings, lists, buttons and labeled form fields, so a screen reader announces the page as the structure it genuinely has rather than as a wall of text.
- Contrast and color. Text and background colors are chosen to meet the Level AA contrast ratios, and we do not use color on its own to carry meaning such as an error or a stock warning.
3Where we know we fall short
A statement that lists no problems is not being honest with you. These are the gaps we know about right now.
- No independent audit yet. Nobody outside the company has audited this site. Our own testing is real, but it is ours, and it will have missed things.
- The payment step. The step where you enter your card details is a component provided by our payment processor and placed inside our checkout page. We do not write it, we cannot fix it ourselves, and we have not obtained an accessibility conformance report for it. If that step stops you, tell us and we will complete the order with you another way.
- Documents we send as PDF files. Receipts, invoices and similar documents we generate as PDF files are not tagged for a screen reader. Ask us and we will send you the same information as plain text in the body of an email.
- Combinations we have not tested. We have tested with some combinations of browser, operating system and assistive technology, not all of them. A problem that only shows up on yours is still a real problem, and we want to hear about it.
- Older images and imported content. Some older product photography and imported page content still has a short or unhelpful text alternative. We are working through it.
4Tell us about a barrier
If any part of this site stops you doing something, tell us. You do not need to know what the problem is called, and you do not need to point at a guideline.
- Write to support@nefense.com and put the word Accessibility in the subject line.
- Tell us what you were trying to do and which page you were on. The web address of the page helps. So does anything you can tell us about your device, browser or assistive technology, but none of that is required.
- Tell us how you would like us to reply, and we will reply that way.
5What happens when you do
- You get a reply. A person reads it, and we reply within three business days. If that falls on a weekend or a holiday, it is the next business day after.
- A way around it first. If there is a way to get the thing done today, that is in the first reply, and we will do it with you if that is easier than talking you through it.
- Then the fix. Small fixes get made quickly. Where a fix needs real work, we tell you what we are doing and roughly when, and we come back to you when it is done instead of leaving you to keep checking.
- An honest answer if we say no. If we decide not to fix something, we say so plainly, we say why, and we tell you what we will do instead. We will not simply stop replying.
- It is recorded. We keep a record of what you told us, so the next report about the same thing is not treated as the first one.
6Another way to get it done
If this site is not usable for you, tell us and we will get it done another way.
Write to support@nefense.com and a person will do it with you. That includes placing an order: we confirm the items, the price, the shipping cost and the total with you, and we arrange payment in a way that works for you. It costs no more to order this way, and the same prices, the same offers and the same policies apply.
The same goes for checking on an order, starting a return, changing or stopping a repeat order, and getting a copy of anything we publish in a format you can read.
We will not ask you to send card details in an email, and you should not send them to us that way. We will arrange a way to pay that keeps them out of the message.
7What this statement covers
This statement covers the Nefense store at the address you are reading it on. It does not cover a website we do not run, including a site we link to.
We review this statement at least once a year, and sooner when we change something significant about the site. Every version records the date it took effect.
8Changes to this document
We update this document when what we do changes, when the law changes, or when we find wording that is unclear. Every version is kept, and each one records the date it took effect.
How you find out depends on how much changed. A correction that does not change your rights is simply published. A change that does affect your rights is announced before it takes effect. A change that materially alters what you agreed to is not applied to you by silence: we ask you to accept it, and continuing to browse the site is not treated as acceptance.
If you want a copy of an earlier version, or want to know what changed and when, write to support@nefense.com and we will send it to you.
